If you have read my previous posts on how to plan your trip to Europe or itineraries for Dubai and Sri Lanka then you would know how thorough I am with my research for a country that I am about to visit. This time was no different and I was going to be in Turkey on a solo trip for a whole week! In this post I will tell you how to plan a trip to Turkey.
1. Figure Out The Cities You Want To Visit
This depends on the number of days you have for your vacation. To explore a city depending on what it has on offer one needs at least two to three days but if the city has a rich culture such as Istanbul and you’d want to experience it all in a go then plan accordingly. I shortlisted on going to Cappadocia, Alacati in Izmir and spend more number of days in Istanbul.
2. Book Your Experiences
I exactly knew what I wanted to do in each city and that is what made my trip extremely smooth. In Istanbul I wanted to visit the historical palaces and museums. In Cappadocia I wanted to be on the hot air balloon and in Alacati I wanted to be on the beach and that is what I did.
3. Plan Your Expenses In Advance
For some staying in a good hotel could be a priority over an experience so depending on what you want to spend on and save on is what you need to do at this stage. For example, in Cappadocia even though I stayed in a cave hotel it was a budget hotel because I preferred going on the hot air balloon that costed me $200.
4. Book Hotels That Aren’t Far From The Main Spots
I got so lucky on this one when I booked my hotel in Istanbul! I was literally a five minute walk away from Taksim Square and the train station too was situated at walking distance. This way you will save up a lot of money that otherwise you would have spent on travelling.
