About Me: Ayushi Anand
I know I should have written this sooner but what can I say, I just assumed that through my posts you would know who I am and what I do. But after getting several messages on Instagram asking me what do I do for a living, if travelling is the only thing I do and if my father is a billionaire etc, I knew that now is the time to answer all these questions and more. My virtual family (you) should know who I am etc.
This post is about knowing me better. This post is a get to know me tag where you will read everything you need to know about Ayushi Anand which is me!
Born And Brought Up
I’m born and brought up in Delhi and no, I am not that South Delhi girl who you see in iDiva’s videos.
I am a South Delhi girl who is emotional, sensitive and loves everything good life has on offer. I’m thankful and content with the things God has blessed me with. As a kid my mother made sure that I played every sport and learnt classical dancing and that’s exactly what I did in my childhood.
I loved playing board games but I was usually seen in a Badminton court and in the swimming pool later. I’ve learnt Bharatnatyam for 7 years from two teachers, Kathak, folk dancing, Jazz from Ashley Lobo, Belly Dancing et al.
Dancing has always made me happy and probably that’s why I started teaching dance in a school and in my colony’s club to children and adults when I was in 10th grade. Since then I started doing wedding choreographies as well.
I continued teaching dance till third year of college but later had to move to Mumbai to pursue higher studies. I still do wedding choreographies and try learning new forms of dance.
I really wanted to learn Flamenco in Barcelona but I was on a vacation and that too for a very short time so I couldn’t. I’d love to learn dance forms from different countries.
I live with my parents, younger brother and grandmother. My father is in real estate, mother is a home maker and brother is a commercial pilot with Jet Airways.
Grandmother mostly stays with us but for a couple of months she goes to Canada to stay with my aunt and get her medical check up.
I studied in DPS R.K.Puram and graduated from school in 2007. I went to Amity University, Noida to pursue Journalism and Mass Communication. Post that I got to intern with Radio Mirchi, CNN-IBN and then I cracked the entrance for Xavier Institute of Communications and I went to Mumbai for a year.
I started working for a production house which was in my colony after getting my PGD Degree. I started working with a salary of INR 15000 and endless working hours.
It was a great experience because I worked for the Reliance Channel’s show I Love Style that aired on BIG CBS Love.
I directed, sourced and styled the looks on the show and it was a hands on experience that I got here. I moved on to work with TLF Magazine where I got to write on travel, fashion and lifestyle.
Working at TLF made me realise how much I love my job and I’d be extremely happy working in this domain so this is when I simultaneously started 365 Days of Bliss.
I’ve been fortunate enough to get great offers with each passing year and I got to work for brands such as Campaign India, Focus News, Times Internet Limited and DNA Newspaper.
After working for more than 6 years, in 2017 I quit my job with no intentions of working in the corporate world and being a corporate slave again. I took three months to figure out what I wanted to do next. While I had a job and a blog, I had also started an apparel firm by the name of Dress Americano.
I had basically set this up for my mother and my aunt who lives in USA (I have 4 paternal aunts. 3 stay abroad and one stays in India). My aunt used to send the best designs and clothes from America to India.
From setting the company to marketing and selling, I did everything. Eventually I had to shut it down because the shipping cost was a lot more than the actual cost of the garment.
I made huge profit at this business and with a very heavy heart closed it. I always wanted to do something of my own. I also dreamt of opening my own cupcake and coffee store but for that I had to professionally do a baking course and it required huge investments.
So after thinking and taking time off I figured that I want to have my own brand of nail lacquers and that was possible because my friend had his own manufacturing unit.
That’s how Major Crush was born. I launched the brand on my birthday – 7th November 2017 and it’s been a great journey so far.
What Do I Actually Do?
In short, I have my own business and I am a travel and lifestyle blogger. On my blog and my social media I share my travel experiences, I make itineraries, I review hotels and restaurants.
I also share updates from my lifestyle in fashion, beauty, food. To know how I manage to travel and how I started blogging etc, you can check out my detailed post here.
