A Quick Getaway To Dehradun With Ramada Hotel

If you are planning for a short escape from Delhi to Dehradun and a luxury staycation is on your mind then make sure you are staying at the Ramada Hotel at Chakrata Road. I was in Dehradun for two nights, enjoying the moderate temperature and visiting the touristy places. After a six hour long train journey on Shatabdi Express with a couple of fellow food bloggers and travel bloggers, I was pleasantly surprised to have spotted our BMW waiting for us at the station.

Upon reaching the hotel, we were welcomed by the team and straight away we went to the restaurant Garden Cress where a set menu was prepared for us. We were served a combination of Indian starters that included choice of soup, prawns, cottage cheese and a variety of kebabs.

There wasn’t much to do on the itinerary on the first day so I decided to explore the hotel. Ramada Hotel Dehradun boasts of three room categories – Deluxe, Executive and Suite. I stayed in a Deluxe room where the decor was done with subtle beige colour with wooden furniture. The room had all modern and basic amenities such as the tea and coffee maker, mini bar, iron board et al along with a super comfortable king size bed. There is a small study and a mini seating space as well for those who want to enjoy the pool view.

I couldn’t stop myself from taking a dip in the swimming pool and that was the next thing on my mind. The hotel has a huge swimming pool where you can ‘Dive and Dine’ at the same time! Other dining options at the hotel are White Horse, Allen n Marlee’s and Crust apart from the all day dining restaurant Garden Crest.

If you fancy exotic cocktails and regal brands of whiskey then White Horse is where you need to be. For all dessert lovers, Crust has some lip smacking pastries and cupcakes for you to relish during your stay and those who want to enjoy the weather along with some amazing Mushroom Risotto (I had the best one here), Pizza and Grilled Chicken then at Allen n Marlee’s you are in for a treat! Here you can also shake a leg. Without a doubt the rooftop view from Allen n Marlee’s is stunning during the day and night. You will get to see the beautiful city of Dehradun.

For the next day, Ramada hotel had arranged for a city tour for us where our cars were waiting for us at the porch. We got to see some touristy spots as well as shop some local stuff to take back home. Coming back to the hotel in the afternoon, I had a scrumptious meal and was admiring the colourful decor and the mini art gallery located at the lobby of the hotel.

Those who wish to plan a getaway for business purposes then the hotel has one conference room – Goshti and a banquet hall – The Ball for all occasions. The third day was when we were getting ready to leave after a heavy breakfast and lunch. Chef Nayan made a memorable experience for all of us as he dished out some amazing Indian and International cuisines for us during our stay.
